Auto connect eee pc to wireless network

Do You have a wireless connection in your house or office? If you do, you must known that by default, eee pc don't auto connect to any hostpot it ever connect. I don't know what's reason behind this setting. But, i just want it to connect automatically to my home hotspot everytime i turn it on in my house. Have the same problem? I'll tell you how to connect your eee pc automatically to your chosen hotspot.
First, you have to know, that eee pc save every connection you ever connect in network setting. Just in case you haven't figure it out yet , you can find the network setting applicaton in the internet tab. This is where eee pc save all your connection and their setting. This is where you can set your default connection and have eee pc connect everytime your turn it on.
Ok,Here's how to do it
1. Click network icon on internaet tab If you ever connected to various hotspot before, you will find a list of hotspot here.
2. Click the connection you want to make it your default connection, the click properties button. You will have a properties dialogue box then.
3. It the properties dialogue box, find start mode with a button next to it. Click the button and select On Boot.
4. Done! now it will connect to your default connection everytime you turn it on.
So easy right!

I always connect to a new wireless hotspot via a hotspot finder in the taskbar tray. If the hotspot has a key (WEP type of security), i put the key here, the first time i connected to it.
After that, if you want to connect to that same hotspot again, you can connect via network manager i mention on above article. You won't be asking for the key anymore, EEE PC store that key for you.
But, if you connect to that hotspot via hotspot finder in the taskbar tray, eee pc will asked for the key again.

hi - i can never connect to a public wifi like in a hotel - how do i do that when i need to pay for access? normally you get taken to a signup page but Eee never does that

i work in a hotel an my eee pc goes straight to the connect page every shift, no problem. is there a password for your hotel connection?
i want it to connect hen i walk into the hotspot without me having to do anythnig, like windows does.
this annoys me intensely.

As far as i know, when we go to paid public hotspot, usually there are two method to get in.
If the hotspot marked open (there are no keylock icon on the wifi), you can connect to it. Then, you'll be directed to a login page where you can purchase the connection or put a password.
But, if the hotspot marked close (keylock icon appear), you should purchase the connection or talk to the costumer services first. They will give you the hotspot password to get in.
Works for me everytime.
But, do remember, that sometime we encounter a hotspot that seems not compatible with eee pc (we found it at my home town). They just keep crash in, and make firefox so unstable.

Sorry, for now, i can only set one automatic connection to predefined wifi hotspot. I let you know when i find the trick
mine 2g connedted fine for 2months, then just stopped. it's stuck in pending. what should i do .. did i waste my money.

Make sure your wifi adapter is turn on.
If already turn on but cannot find your wirelessbox, check whats your wirelessbox wifi protocol. Eee pc only support standar b and g.

i cannot connect to the internet it just says pending for a long time then noting how long should this take

to switch on the wireless card of eee pc (at least in series 700 and 900) press Fn+F2.
i can not connect to the internet via wirless i have 100% signal strength but its not connecting you have to enter in a key wats the key number?

It recognizes and detects the wireless connection. But still, it's always pending. The Local Area Connection is also pending. I have put the key for the wireless connection. However, it still does not connect. WHY?! Please; help. Thanks in advance.
I have the 'on boot' option checked, and this still does not work. i have to go into the networks list and choose my router and press connect. I'm going to install windows, linux is turning out to be a waste of time.

I just bought an EEEPC 701SD Series 7 inch netbook and am having trouble connecting to WiFi at home. We have a desktop and another laptop running on Windows XP and Vista that connect fine with our WiFi. This EEEPC brings up the wireless connection options, I've entered the WPA password, but it just keeps saying "Pending" and does not connect. Someone please help? I'm this close to getting a refund. =)

You will have to do a update. Under add and remove program.
You have to update it to support WPA .

I can connect to every wireless however when I go to an open wireless like the holiday inn hotel it connects with good signal strangth but the page cannot be displayed when i try to click up google etc

Hi, I am having the same issues as the others. My girlfriend's eee pc won't connect to my wireless connection. My Ps3 has no trouble detecting it. Donna & Ben said in earlier posts to change WEP to WPA. I think it might be the solution, however I am trying with the control panel in the internet tab I see nothing. Where do I go to perform this task?

Hi i just bought an asus eee pc.... my problem is, it can connect to a wireless internet but when i started browsing in the web, it couldn't find my server, my server is mozilla firefox. please help
i got it working, when before that it says pending... 1st close the wifi using fn+f2 and do the settings in properties. leave it to wep and enter key/password to the wifi connection. the after finishing, turn on the the wifi again fn+f2, it should be enabled.

On you ASUS EEE Click on Network icon in internet,make sure the wireless connection you going to use is highlighted then click on properties,once in wireless propeties select wireless then look for the tab option MODE then change this to IFRASTRUCTURE select ok.it sometimes take a min or so but you will be surfing on the net.
goto messenger and click essid the press the enter key for 1 minute and enjoy surfing the net
Hello, I followed all of the steps mentionned and I still get the message Unavailable server. I entered the key for my secured network the first time I tried so I do not get asked everytime I tried to connect to the internet. I have a router and a Laptop (PC) but I can connect to the internet via my Eee PC. What else can i do?

I just got a Asus Eee PC 2g to suf the net but im so dissaopionted you cant just connet to a network like windows ! I think its something to do with most networks now being wpa2 , and the machine being 2 years old ? Does anyone know is the eee pc 2g can work with a wpa2 wireless network? and if so I assume I need to update linux ? can this be done easily by connecting to router with cable and selecting a update option somewhere?

My ee PC has not had internet access for months i contacted EEPC and Linskys. EEPC could not diagnoise the problem and told me i needed to take it to a repair place, i decided to look on the internet and found this post followed the information and i now have access to the internet UNBELIEVALBE. THANKS VERY MUCH!

I have an Eee PC, my wireless network is on, hooked up and running except my Eee pc, when I go to connect to wireless network it says Operation Failed andthe details says:
/sbin/ifup:interface ath0 already configured.
what the heck does that mean. How do I connect to the wireless. If possible please give me step by step instructions as I am very illiterate on this one.
1: Choose “Network” in the Internet option, disconnect it and then delete the Connection in the “Manage”.
2: Click “Create” to recreate the connection, choose “Local Area Network- Wireless”, then Next.
3: Choose “Next”.
4: Select Address Type, and then Next.
5: Browse Wireless Networks and then choose the one you want to use, choose the mode to be “infrastructure” and the
Transfer rate to be “auto”, and then Next.
6: Wireless Channel Settings, choose any channel.
7: If your AP is using the WEP or WPA encryption, you need to choose “Enable encryption” and then input the Key and
Key index, (mine was in WPA mode with an index key of 4), choose Next. (If the AP is not encrypted, you don't need
to set the encryption.)
8: Fill in the Name of connection, then choose Next.
9: You can choose the “Connect automatically at system startup” or “Start this connection when finished” if you
want, and then choose Finish.
